4TH GRADE
Jazz Standards is the Kimmel Center’s unique in-school residency. Students explore “What is Jazz” through music, dance, and integrated academic lessons. The residency is enriched by attending and participating in performances on the Kimmel Center campus. Program objectives are to:
- engage students in learning (through Music)
- provide opportunities to see, hear and understand Jazz music
- create future audiences and artists for Jazz

This year JYKDCS has the privileged to be a part of Jazz Standards which is the Kimmel Center’s unique in-school residency. The program explores the question “What is Jazz?” through music, dance, and integrated academic lessons. The residency is enriched by attending and participating in performances on the Kimmel Center's campus. Rooms 403 & 404 have been selected to participate in the program.

- Kick-Off Concert featuring professional musicians at Kimmel Center (Busing included)
- In-school workshops 2x a week for 9 weeks with experienced teaching artists
- Field trip to South Jazz restaurant to see professional musicians (Busing included)
- Student Performances in-school
- Opportunity to join Neighborhood Jams, an after school ensemble at MillCreek playground, where instruments and instruction are provided.
- Showcase of Accomplishments for Neighborhood Jams ensembles & selected schools at the Kimmel Center
